Call for Symposium

In general, it is of great importance that the common future of humanity be shaped around a vision founded on justice, peace, and love; and more specifically, that emphasis be placed on efforts to develop the experience of coexistence in all its diversity within the Muslim world.

Therefore, in order to raise awareness of the projects being carried out to ensure healthy communication and interaction both within Islamic civilization itself and with those outside of it, it is necessary to develop new international organizations that take current conditions into account.

Muslim cultural and intellectual history possesses an immense body of accumulated knowledge. There is a need for this rich heritage to be re-examined and presented for the service of humanity with the aim of contributing to coexistence. Within this framework, the First International Symposium on “The Practice of Coexistence in Islamic Culture” was organized jointly by Kırıkkale University Faculty of Islamic Sciences and the Azerbaijan Institute of Theology, and was held on 20-21 September 2022 in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, between the two brotherly countries of Türkiye and Azerbaijan.

Due to the significance of the subject, the Second Symposium was hosted by Kırıkkale University on 5-7 October 2023. During this event, it was decided that the Third Symposium—aimed at strengthening relations among Muslim countries—would be hosted by Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University (UIN Sunan Kalijaga) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and it was subsequently held on 28-30 May 2024.

Considering the outcomes, messages conveyed, goals identified, and contributions made by these symposia held in Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Indonesia toward communication and the creation of a livable world, it is evident that the continuation of this event is necessary. In this context, it has been decided that the 4th Symposium on “The Practice of Coexistence in Islamic Culture” will be held in Kilis on May 7-9, 2026, hosted by Kilis 7 Aralık University.

This symposium, which aims to contribute to scholarly, political, socio-cultural, economic, and individual studies on the experience of coexistence in Islamic civilization, will also further strengthen the bonds of friendship and brotherhood among Muslim countries, particularly Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Indonesia.
